Jancis Robinson discussed the issue of wine packaging in her article "Glass dismissed?" focussing on new and sustainable formats such as Bijou Le Chic Bagnums. Glass bottles and their transport are the two biggest contributors to wine’s carbon footprint. Thanks to the lightweight packaging and economy of space, Bijou Le Chic 1.5L Bagnums have a significantly lower carbon footprint in comparison to 75cl glass bottles due to a substantial reduction in transport emissions by approximately 80%.

"Waitrose’s best seller last summer was Bijou Le Chic, the squishy, pretty 150-cl pouch of southern French rosé shown above, although it is being redesigned with a white plastic tap rather than a black one. Black taps are being eliminated by all environmentally conscious retailers because they don’t stand out on the black, optically sorted conveyor belts used by recyclers."

Bijou Le Chic Bagnums were a new and exciting addition to our range in 2019. Our 100% Grenache rosé pouches were Waitrose's best seller over the summer and consequently, Waitrose are adding a Sauvignon Blanc pouch to their shelves this year. The Bagnums have somewhat revolutionised the BiB and formats category by offering a high quality wine in a more sustainable, eco-friendly format. The pouches stay fresh for 30 days once opened and are perfect for picnics, barbecues, beach days, poolside, festivals, you name it, thanks to the built in handle and practical design.
