Lumea

Triassic clay-limestone

Lumea’s vineyards stretch over the finest clay-limestone soils in a region known for its exceptional terroirs and continental climate. Situated amongst the highest elevations in Provence (300 and 420 meters), the sites have been divided into three distinct areas, each contributing unique qualities to the wines.

Protected by small wooded hills, the first area is ideal for older vines, lending elegance and ripeness. The slopes facing sunrise benefit from warm days and cool nights which allows slower ripening. Finally, the vines on rich and deep soils add a note of aromatic freshness.

Harvest in this area can be up to a week later than vineyards nearer the coast allowing for more complexity and balance. Yields below the authorised levels in the appellation (45hL/ha) to achieve more concentration.

Experimental vinification with specific vats of Cinsault fermented slightly warmer with Lalvin Opale yeasts (18°C) in stainless steel tanks to introduce exotic aromas.

The nose is complex with intriguing notes of peaches and redcurrant. It is crisp, embodying all that makes Provence rosés so moorish. The flavours carry on to balance a long finish.

It is a perfect wine for al fresco dining. It will be the ideal partner for salads and summer grills.

“Everyone wants a ‘bijou’, a tiny pink pearl. This wine is an excellent expression of a pretty, aromatic rosé from the South of France. Pale peach in hue, the wine shows raspberry, strawberry and white cherry fruit with a creamy underlying note. Just dry, the palate is light and elegant, underpinned by lively acidity and a hint of white pepper spice supporting the juicy fruit. An excellent wine for summer, it works nicely with asparagus wrapped in parma ham or sautéed white mushrooms.”

THE PINK HUES OF PROVENCE

Provence is one of the oldest and most renowned wine-producing areas in the world with a viticultural history that dates back over 2,600 years. This region is particularly famous for its rosé wines, which account for about 90% of its wine production. The unique terroir of AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence, characterized by a Mediterranean climate, abundant sunshine, and diverse soils ranging from limestone and clay to schist and sandstone, provides ideal conditions for our Bijou Lumea.
