In Languedoc, local legend speaks of a woman who fought honourably for the rights of her fellow female workers in the vineyards.
Sophie Valrose Rosé
Cool alluvial-clay soils.
A combination of carefully well-trellised vines and low yielding bush vines.
The grapes are harvested early in the morning when temperatures are cooler in order preserve fresh acidity and balanced sugar levels. They are then directly pressed and the Syrah grape undergoes light maceration on its skins. Long and cool vinification takes place in order to maximise the flavour profile. Finally, after fermentation the four varietals are blended together before finding clarification and stabilization.
Le Bijou de Sophie Valrose is a beautifully pale, salmon-coloured rosé. Elegantly fragrant, with aromas of wild strawberries, citrus and delicate floral notes. Round and creamy on the palate, with a refreshing acidity and silky smooth finish.
Perfectly complements oil-based pasta dishes, salads topped with grilled salmon or chicken and cheese platters.
“A fantastic-value, pale pink, dry rosé with notes of wild strawberry and cherry, as well as a touch of pear drop and a citrus-fresh finish. Lingering, light, but with enough fruit to make this both full in flavour, but also palate-cleansing and zesty in style.”

THE LEGEND OF SOPHIE VALROSE
At the turn of the last century, women were often relegated to the back-breaking and unpleasant labour in the vineyards, while being paid significantly less than their male counterparts.
This best-selling range embodies the legend of Sophie Valrose; symbolising the fight that women undertook to be recognised for their dedication to the wine industry, which would not have flourished without their efforts.
