Cuvée Jolie Terre de Providence Rouge
50% Grenache, 50% Merlot – IGP Pays d’Oc
Jolie Terre de Providence rouge is a soft and juicy red that is full of red and bramble-fruit character with a touch of spice and liquorice. The texture is smooth with soft, mellow tannins.
Cuvée Jolie is inspired by Picasso and our love for art. “Ma Jolie” was both a popular French song of the early twentieth century and the nickname he gave his lover, Eva Gouel.
The name ‘Terre de Providence’ makes reference to nature’s care and protection of the Earth or ‘Terre’. Without this ‘providence’, the terroir would not be how it is today.
Viticulture and Vinification
The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards in the foothills of the Black Mountain around the appellations of Saint Chinian, Faugères and Côteaux de Languedoc.
Grenache and Merlot grapes are harvested early in the morning to retain maximum freshness. These are macerated on their skins for 8 days and pressed gently to extract colour and tannin. Jolie Terre de Providence then undergoes an ambient fermentation (26 – 28°).
There is no oak ageing to the wine as we want to focus on the wonderful fruit characteristics of the wine. Each variety is vinified separately and then carefully blended together.
