Think pink on Father’s Day
Nothing says Father’s Day like a bottle of rosé. After all, rosé is just perfect for a summery day in June. Southern French rosé tends to be light, refreshing and packed with incredible citrus and red fruit aromatics – just about everything one might fancy on a warm and sunny day. For this exceptional occasion, we suggest our flagship rosé Le Bijou de Sophie Valrose, a fantastic wine to celebrate Father’s Day with a touch of Southern French rosé.
Our flagship rosé, Sophie Valrose, combines quality, tradition and innovation in an elegantly defined bottle that makes this wine an excellent choice for any occasions. A beautiful pale, salmon-coloured rosé, with fragrant aromas of strawberries, citrus and delicate floral notes. The palate is round and creamy, with refreshing acidity and a silky-smooth finish that makes this incredible rosé a perfect accompaniment with canapés, white meats, seafood or just any other delicacy you might be planning for this day.
The inspiration for this unique rosé goes back to the late 19th century and the legend of Sophie Valrose. She worked in the Languedoc vineyards alongside her female peers. At the time, women were often mistreated, overworked and underpaid. Sophie stood up against this exploitation, challenging the treatment of the female workers. She became something of a local hero and a source of inspiration for creating our most renowned rosé wine. We source the grapes from low yielding, handpicked bush vines, alike those that Sophie harvested herself many years ago and pay tribute to her on the back of every bottle.
We have been producing wines along the Mediterranean Coast for almost a decade and strive to provide wines with a sense of place. Sustainability has been a core part of our production for several years. Since 2018 we have been working hand-in-hand with our growers towards the HEV Level 3 certification (High Environmental Value), a three-tiered system that encourages farms and vineyards to focus on increasing biodiversity, decreasing the negative environmental impact of the phytosanitary strategy, managing their fertilizer inputs, and improving water management. As of the 2020 vintage, Le Bijou de Sophie Valrose is certified to the highest level and we continue to honour our living soils in Côteaux de Béziers. Bijou has also prioritized a lighter bottle (440g) to minimize our transport emissions and carbon footprint.
