In Languedoc, local legend speaks of a woman who fought honourably for the rights of her fellow female workers in the vineyards.
Sophie Valrose Sauvignon Blanc
Alluvial-clay soils
Well-trellised vineyards located between the Bassin de Thau and Gruissan
Our grapes were hand-selected from the best sustainably farmed vineyards in Coteaux de Béziers, where the local offshore winds balance the warm Mediterranean climate and allow the fruit to develop complexity whilst preserving their acidity. We pick at night and on three dates. Destemming, gentle direct pressing with minimal skin contact followed by cool fermentations in stainless steel tanks
Fresh and aromatic with intense notes of ripe grapefruit and citrus fruits. On the palate it is crisp and vivid with good length and a hint of salinity on the finish.
Perfectly complements oil-based pasta dishes, salads topped with grilled salmon or chicken and cheese platters.
THE LEGEND OF SOPHIE VALROSE
At the turn of the last century, women were often relegated to the back-breaking and unpleasant labour in the vineyards, while being paid significantly less than their male counterparts.
This best-selling range embodies the legend of Sophie Valrose; symbolising the fight that women undertook to be recognised for their dedication to the wine industry, which would not have flourished without their efforts.
