In the Netherlands, Bijou has been catching a lot of attention with experts, critics and wine writers alike. In May, wine expert Han Sjakes gave an excellent review of our new sparkling rosé, Ma Chérie, describing the wine as “Ripe sweet tropical fruit (melon, mango, orange), lovely flowers, fine citrus bitters, nuts, sweet spices, fruit cake slice, touch of fresh ginger […] What a treat.”
This week Dutch wine writer Onno Kleyn wrote a lovely piece about our flagship rosé, Le Bijou de Sophie Valrose. Inspired by Sophie’s story and impressed by the crisp, fruity profile of the wine he featured the wine in his column in de Volkskrant newspaper. Kleyn described Sophie Valrose as “Pale salmon, dry, with a bucket of berries and a few hidden raspberry candies, pleasantly balanced, no cheap Hupsakee flavors. And with the juiciness that characterizes the 2019’s.”
Kleyn awarded Sophie Valrose a fantastic 8.5/10 which highlights the outstanding quality of the wine.
