Over the past few months, Elizabeth Gabay MW and Ben Bernheim carried out a large Southern French rosé tasting of nearly 1,000 wines and two of our rosés scored an outstanding 90 points and were highly recommended by the widely regarded expert of rosé wine, Elizabeth Gabay.
Éminence de Bijou 2020
Highly recommended
Score: 90
“More grenache-orange in colour, not as pale as we might expect from the incredibly up-to-date packaging – no complaints here! Getting hints of oak on the nose. Toffee, caramel, hints of cappuccino. Oaky, nutty, coffee and rich vanilla cacao. Opulent, structural, tannic on the finish, red fruit takes over with redcurrants and cranberries, nice phenolic ripeness, some peppiness, a touch of fruit with dried apricot on the finish. Lovely acidity. Highly Recommended.”
Bijou Cuvée Jolie Terre de Providence 2020
Highly recommended
Score: 90
“Lots of red fruit. Peachy fruit. Quite luscious, juicy and unctuous. Paler than the palest pale. Snow White would not be happy. A little white fruit, some red fruit. A huge surprise on the palate – actually really palatable. Plenty of juicy acidity, lots of ripe white fruit, a touch of residual sugar. Forgot to spit it was so drinkable! Not super complex or structural or fancy or aromatic – but incredibly drinkable. […] for someone who thinks they only like Pinot Grigio or something like that, really a no-brainer. Highly Recommended.”
